Drew Lane of the Drew and Mike Show released a podcast today with his former Producers at WRIF. Mike Clark wasn’t on the podcast as they claimed it was impromptu, Drew said Clark will appear on future shows.
I’m guessing they by doing the podcast they are expecting to be off the air for a bit, likely for the next six months due to a no-compete.
LOL, Drew slaps me for writing about potential gigs for them at the 11:50 mark. Ha. I am flattered, but I haven’t claimed ANY inside information….just yappin’ radio.
Check it out here, it’s good stuff.
A new on-air chemistry awaits DETROIT classic rock listeners with the addition of TRUDI DANIELS as the new co-host of GREATER MEDIA’s Classic Rock WCSX Morning Show with K.C. & TRUDI. She will begin her new role on MONDAY, JUNE 3rd.
The SANDUSKY, OH native was most recently heard on the air as the long-time news personality on sister WRIF for the past 22 years. Previous to that, she worked as a morning show host at WZOU/BOSTON, KSEG/SACRAMENTO, WLVQ/COLUMBUS and WIOT/TOLEDO.
“The WCSX air staff is a collection of outstanding on-air personalities from DETROIT Rock Radio history,” said Market Mgr. STEVE CHESSARE. “TRUDI is an outstanding talent and the perfect choice to co-host the morning show with KEN CALVERT. We are thrilled she will continue to remain a part of the GREATER MEDIA/DETROIT family.”
“I spent most of my life going to concerts and had to find some way to keep getting free tickets,” said DANIELS. “I’m also going for the record for shortest radio move — about 40 yards and across the hall!”

Greater Media made it official today, not that we didn’t already know, Dave and Chuck The Freak are the new morning show at WRIF.
Greater Media General Manager Steve Chessare explained the move to The Detroit News.
The change in the morning show has “been in the works for quite some time,” said Steve Chessare, market manager for Greater Media Detroit.
“This is a symbol of our future at RIF,” Chessare said. “We’re continuing to deliver the best content for young adults in Detroit.”
The Dave and Chuck “the Freak” show went off the air from 89X in November and quickly became part of the discussion to take the place of the “Drew & Mike” morning show. The idea, Chessare said, was to provide content more appealing to the station’s young audience.
These comments are only partially true. The biggest reason Drew and Mike were replaced is because they made too much money. The new show will make considerably less money and will generate comparable ratings and revenue. It’s the way things are 2013, pay less and put more on the bottom line, it is simple economics.
Drew and Mike will resurface soon, they will be great and you can bet they will work for a lot less money.
